Garden Muse

She walked along the beds,

Hands trailing over stakes

Heavy with vines

And sugar snaps.

Orange peeked

From underneath green hats

Far too wild for small heads.

Blushing tomatoes danced

Cheek to cheek

With peppers.

She smiled.

The garden will make

Good salad

Tonight.

    • Thank you, Lucy. I’m so glad you liked it. I don’t have a garden now, but had one growing up, with vegetables and fruit trees and volunteered upstate some summers on a small farm. It is always delightful to be close to one’s table. Part of the reason I love Farmers Markets so much, so that even in the City there can be a bit of that connection, if by proxy.
