To Be Home

To be home

Where the sun kisses

Blooms

On the sly,

And the buildings cannot

Hide reflections

Of sky,

Where new life bursts on forth

Undeterred

Joy unmasked,

And this moment

Outdoors

Is almost all one

Can ask.

Let Spirits Fly

Then

Came just the perfect time

For snowy charm

To let its spirits

Fly

On high,

And make the wind bend

Trees and

Set tardy leaves to

Sway

Astray,

As Fair Folk sprinkle

Flaky frost and

Set aflame a winter’s

Dance.

I am

Entranced.

Morning Calm

Morning calm KoSamui NaamaYehuda

Soft ripples spread

Like ribbons of

Silk

As morning heads

Toward shimmering

Heat.

For Sunday Stills: Calm

Note: The photo was taken in Ko Samui, Thailand, on an August morning.  It was sublime.

In Two’s Company

Foliage duo NaamaYehuda

They stand together

Fully dressed

Their branches interlaced.

The streetlight hugged between them

Like a child

Held in embrace.

Note: all year long these two trees appear almost indistinguishable. Then comes foliage … and with it a different kind of double take for the glory people see.

Oh, you King

Of the branch,

Emperor of your

Nestlings,

Purple robe

Golden crown,

Your perch all

Pomp and

Whistling.

Summer Layers

Life is stacked like so

Many layers of summer

In the Central Park.

(Note: While I do resent the growing need to face reality of summer heading to an end, I accept the challenge for increased layer-awareness … 😉 ).

In Between

walk at sunset

Photo: D. Freedman

In between the wish for more

And need for less

She paused to let the breeze pass

Through

And transform her

From the rushing steps that never seem to

Gain foothold

On life,

To the tranquility of what is

Yet

to be left

Behind.

Freckled

Spattered,

Scattered,

Splattered

Like galaxies

Of reversed light

Upon the expanse

Of skin.

Concentrated pigment

On the canvas

Of the body,

They speckle

Like stars

Reflected

In the negative of film.

Beloved,

They dance upon

The nose.

A freckled

Symphony

Of brown and gold.
