“Have you seen her?” Mark thrust his head and shoulders through the open dutch door.

Ella nodded carefully. The light’s angle made the perspiration dotting Mark’s wide forehead look like dew on a banana leaf. How odd.

“And?” he pressed.

“Daphne is fine.”

Mark grunted his impatience. “That’s not what I meant, and you know it!”

Ella sighed in resignation. There will be no escaping the truth, no matter how much it could hurt him. “There’s a glow about her, if you must know.”

Mark sagged.

“And … an engagement ring on her finger.”

Eyes Aglow

In the window

Reflected

Shine from times long

Ago,

As the fire

Resplendent

Warmed cold hands from the

Snow,

And kids’ eyes

Filled with wonder

Twinkled joy in the

Glow.

Elders, too

Filled with stories

Even they’re yet to

Know.

Lights aglow

Hope aflow.

Rippled water paint

Soft liquid cloth

Along the coast,

While boats at anchor

Bob at buoys

With tides’ ebb and float.

Beaches with sprawling, gentle surf are among my favorite things in the world. Long, shallow waves that coat expanses of sand evoke an instant relaxation response in me, and this glowing photo taken in Australia is no exception. The light on the water deepens the magic and transports me to time before time and this very moment in time, where the steady breath of the ocean pulses the very heartbeat of Earth and moon and sun.
